56 www.pdop.org adult sports youth sports Beginning Fencing Intermediate-Advanced Fencing En garde! Diana Unger, a certified coach with the United States Fencing Association with more than 25 years of fencing experience, will teach you the basics of fencing. Fencing requires patience, concentration, discipline, and self-awareness. Self-confidence, self-control, and emotional strength gained from this sport will lead to a healthier lifestyle. Weapons, jackets, and masks will be provided and shared among classmates. Participants must obtain a $10 US Fencing Membership prior to the first day of class. Participants must bring a glove for writing hand. Supervisor: Chad Drue Youth Boxing In a fun and safe environment, students will learn self-defense utilizing boxing techniques. Students learn how to punch, block and use boxing combinations depending on skill level achieved. Students become more physically fit and learn whole body coordination. Supervisor: Pedro Flores Youth Kickboxing In a fun and safe environment, students will learn self-defense utilizing kickboxing techniques. Students will learn how to block and use kickboxing combinations depending on skill level achieved. Students will become more physically fit and learn whole body coordination. Supervisor: Pedro Flores Youth Ninja Warrior Training Working off an integrated curriculum/structure, this class is appropriate for beginner and advanced participants. It's all about progression in each obstacle and each individual putting themselves to the test week aer week. Class will include beginner and intermediate obstacles, as well as some of our most challenging obstacles aimed at building both strength, balance and agility. Class will typically include three circuits with 5-8 stations (obstacles) per circuit. Each 55-minute class is based on a continually-evolving lesson plan and set of obstacles and circuits aimed at providing a foundation of strength, agility and balance. Our mission is to strive to have all achieve, grow in perseverance, athleticism, confidence and have fun doing it! Held at Windy City Ninjas at 648 W. Lake St. in Elmhurst. Supervisor: Pedro Flores Rugby Rugby is a unique sport combining contact, speed and finesse. It requires excellent physical fitness and develops skills that translate well to other sports. In rugby, everyone plays offense and defense, and everyone can carry the ball. Huskies Rugby's USA Rugby Certified coaches will instruct players in the skills, training, philosophy and strategy needed to be a successful rugby athlete. Players will learn the positions, rules, passing techniques, rucking and mauling and the all-important "scrum". No experience is necessary. All sizes and athletic abilities can play rugby and no player will be turned away. Financial aid is available. Uniforms will be provided. Stance, nocking and anchoring are just a few terms and skills that will be covered.
