Jr. Scientists: All About Animals invites your little zoologists to analyze the differences between vertebrate and invertebrate, construct their way through the butterfly and frog life cycle, build reptiles, and examine the differences and similarities between insects and arachnids using Kid K'NEX® pieces. Your child will too busy exploring the animal world to realize that they are gaining critical social, motor, and developmental skills. Learn about some of these tricks, such as mimicry and camouflage. Play a game to see if you can spot the trickster and create your own tricky creature. Ages 7+ Res Fee $12 - Fee $15 Location: Austin Gardens Supervisor: Joe Lilly St. Patrick's Day Nature ursday, Mar 10, 6:00-7:30P Everyone knows about leprechauns, but St. Patrick's Day also includes a lot of nature-oriented symbols, such as emerald green, gold, rainbows, snakes, shamrocks, etc. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Irish culture as we learn why we think of leprechauns, shamrocks, and pots of gold on this day. Make a leprechaun and/or shamrock cra and play a leprechaun-related game! Let's compare these characters to real creatures and also learn about some other amazing true "super powers" that some animals have. We will also create our own animal- based superheroes! Students will learn about forces, energy, and problem-solving as they build models inspired by Superman, Batman, and all their favorite heroes. Experimentation and fun are crucial components of this 'super' educational program! Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and programming as they build alarm devices, earthquake detectors, robotic arms, and much more.
