While you wait for your plants to come back this year, add some year- round color with a plaster and glass garden mosaic. We will use plastic molds and colored glass pieces set in plaster to form mosaic plates to place in your garden at home. ese can also be hung on a fence or used inside. Supplies and instruction included. If you have unique pieces you would like to add to your mosaic, please bring them in as well! Add ribbon and a variety of foliage to create the ultimate accessory to welcome spring. All materials and instruction included. One crown per person. Ages 10-Adult Rea Fee $18 - Fee $23 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Kites in Flight! Saturday, May 7, 10:00A-12:00P Kites are such a wonderful sign of warmer weather. Come in and create a mixed media image of kites moving through a beautiful sky using patterned paper, string, ribbon, glitter, and more on canvas board. Supplies and instruction included but feel free to bring in your own paper if you would like. Ages 8-Adult Res Fee $15 - Fee $20 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Card Making Saturday, May 7, 12:00-2:00P is custom of sending greeting cards can be traced back to Asia and early Egyptians who conveyed their greetings on papaya scrolls. In this workshop, each participant will create ten handmade 5x4 folded greeting cards for any occasion. Decoration methods include stamping designs with various colored inks and heat setting with embossing powder. Instruction will include how to give your cards elements of dimension. Design details include using stickers, specialty scissors and a punch tool. A variety of hand marbled paper and origami paper will be available for collage techniques. Ages 8-Adult Res Fee $50 - Fee $67 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Partner Painting - Mother's Day! Sunday, May 8, 1:00-3:00P Bring those special people in for an aernoon of painting and good times. Each pair will chose an image to split on two canvases. Hang them together for a fun wall decoration. A variety of examples will be available to the group, but participants are welcome to bring their own as well. Materials and instruction provided. Ages 7-Adult Res Fee $25 - Fee $30 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Custom Candle Making - Mothers Day Workshop Sunday, May 8, 3:00-5:00P Celebrate your relationship with your Mom by creating memories together you'll never forget. Few things so quickly bring back recall than scent. In this 2-hour class, you will be making candles with a custom scent and color using a mold that you will make during the workshop. Your candle's finished product will be of you and/or Mom's hands holding a 3D heart. You will be using a body safe mold material called alginate to make you unique candles. Let your affection show as your carve your pre-cast heart with text, pattern, or imagery. Decide together how you want to position your hand or hands and then cast your mold. Finally, you will each cast a wax candle where you will add your own essential oil scents, and colorants. In this class, we'll look through some images of really great looking beetles to recreate their beautiful coloring and shapes in our own drawings. A variety of coloring materials will be available including acrylic and watercolor paint, colored pencils, crayons, oil pastels, chalk pastels, and markers. Paper, examples, and instruction will also be supplied. Ages 7-Adult Res Fee $15 - Fee $20 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Batik Floral Paintings Saturday, May 14, 10:00A-12:00P Batik is the art of using wax and inks/watercolors on paper or fabric. e wax resists the ink and water color creating a bold contrast between line and color. In this 2-hour class, participants will use melted wax in a variety of colors and watercolor paints on thick paper, craing a vivid piece of art. Designs and all supplies and instruction provided. Ages 10-Adult Res Fee $18 - Fee $23 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Glass Mosaic Stepping Stone Saturday, May 14, 12:00-4:00P or Sunday, May 22, 9:00A-1:00P Have the last few years got you feeling a little restless? I know that I need an outlet for some of my building energy! What better way than creating loud energetic patterns that match all that restlessness! In this one- session workshop, we will be cutting recycled stained glass scrap glass to create dazzling patterned stepping stones. In your time in the studio, you will learn to cut glass, think about color and pattern as well as assemble and grout your stepping stone. Let some of that wild energy through this cathartic mosaic process and go home with a stunning stepping stone to adorn your home.
