No-Fire Nouveau Tiles
Saturday, Aug 6, 10:00A-12:00P
Beginning in the early 1880s, the "Art Nouveau"
style flourished in all forms of art. A response to
the industrial era, it blended natural forms with
man-made advances in architecture, design and
manufacturing. In this class, you'll create hand-
painted tiles using tube lining — a technique in
which a design outline was created first and then
filled in with color — is the definitive look of Art
Nouveau. Age 7-Adult

Op Art Spinners
Saturday, Aug 13, 10:00A-12:00P
"Fidget spinners" became wildly popular because of
their reputation as a concentration aid or a means of
releasing stress and anxiety. Op Art (short for Optical
Art) is a movement that rose to popularity in the
1960s as a means of keeping the eyes busy. In this
class, participants will create their own handheld
"fidget spinners" as kinetic art — discs, gears, and
designs that rotate around a center axis. When
patterns and colors on multiple layers spin together,
they can fool the eye and create colorful illusions.
