Studies have shown that these types of programs improve health and social connectivity for adults participating in arts/intergenerational programs and an increased understanding of aging for youth. Ages 7+ Res Fee $29 - Fee $38 Location: Dole Center - Ceramics Studio SEPTEMBER weekends Foam Quillies Friday, Sep 2, 6:00-8:00P is is a curly, swirly, colorful take on a traditional rug-making technique, also known as "standing" or "beaded" wool carpets. In modern times, these whimsical fiber creations have been dubbed "quillies" because they resemble paper quilling. Using strips of sticky-backed, colorful foam in place of wool, students can roll and join shapes to form "quillies" that don't require needles to assemble. Ages 7+ Res Fee $17 - Fee $22 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Imagined Plants Saturday, Sep 3, 10:00A-12:00P With inspiration from Dr. Suess, create a new plant "species" and imagine its importance within an ecosystem. ese small assemblage sculptures can illustrate the physical properties of existing plants or be entirely new creations. Ages 7+ Res Fee $19 - Fee $24 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Stellar Embroidery Sunday, Sept 4, 1:00-3:00P Participants will learn about astronomy by choosing a constellation to embroider onto a shimmery acrylic surface made from pouring medium and liquid watercolors, all enclosed within an embroidery hoop! Repeating Stencils Saturday, Sep 10, 10:00A-12:00P In the genre of Street Art, "Stencil Graffiti" allows an artist to pre-design a piece and then rapidly create multiple prints that suggest movement. Participants learn how to design and cut a basic stencil, then use felt-tip "daubers" to quickly fill them in. Ages 7+ Res Fee $11 - Fee $14 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Yupo Art Deco Lantern Sunday, Sep 11, 1:00-3:00P e Roaring '20s were a time of great economic prosperity with an explosion of social, artistic, and cultural exuberance. During this period, Art Deco was born, a style that uses bright colors and precious metals combined with complex, repeating patterns. Make an Art Deco-influenced lantern using molten metal acrylic paints to "guild" a pattern onto translucent paper. Ages 7+ Res Fee $11 - Fee $14 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Watercolor Texture Casts Saturday, Sep 17, 10:00A-12:00P Molding, casting, sculpting, painting and mono- printing – this simple project pulls all of these together into one low relief sculpture that showcases the elements of texture and color. Ages 7+ Res Fee $18 - Fee $23 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Venetian Volto Mask Sunday, Sep 18, 1:00-3:00P e Italian word "volto" translates as "face". ese full- face masks were known as "citizen's masks" because they were originally worn by common people during the Carnival of Venice. By draping acrylic felt over a reusable form and using Rice Paste (a gluten-free maché alternative) to stiffen, participants create a sculptural mask that can be decorated with paint, glitter, feathers, rhinestones, etc. Ages 7+ Res Fee $26 - Fee $34 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Weekends are for creative fun with friends and family!
