We employed an additional 300 youth during the summer to work in our parks, camps and pool. A huge thanks to each and every one of you! Now, I look forward to the transformation that takes place in our parks. From the colorful leaves to the snow-covered fields, there is much beauty to enjoy in our parks. Along with the sights, fall and winter bring a flurry of activities from the Frank Lloyd Wright Races, Candlelight Walk, to the Winter Fest and more. In addition, there are plenty of programs and activities that take advantage of the seasons ahead. I hope you've had the opportunity to observe the construction of the Park District's most exiting capital project as of late. If not, I invite you to stop by and take in the building of Oak Park's new Community Recreation Center on Madison Street. Information highlighting hours, membership, amenities, and more will be released early in 2023, and we anticipate welcoming the first visitors in late Spring! I'm thrilled to share the District's success in being named one of four finalists for the national Gold Medal award. is prestigious award is oen referred to as the "Oscars" of the parks and recreation industry and recognizes the District's excellence in categories, including planning, resource management, environmental stewardship, and more. e Park District last earned the Gold Medal 2015, and we hope to bring home another Grand Plaque from the National Recreation and Parks Association's annual conference this September.
