Night Hike Sunday, Sept 25, 7:00-8:30P Whooo goes there? Come join our nature staff on a night hike through Lindberg Park to search for owls! We'll learn their calls and what signs to look for, and put our eyes to the skies to see if we can spot some flying overhead! Ages 7+ Res Fee $11 - Fee $14 Location: Lindberg Park Hunter's Moon Night Hike Sunday, Oct 9, 7:00-8:30P It's October, and we're taking a walk to bask in the glow of the bright orange Hunter's Moon that only shows its face in the fall. Come join us for a stroll around Mills Park, learning the tale about how this lunar event got its name. Stroll beneath the canopy with us and take in the true colors of fall. We'll learn why our arboreal friends change their leaves and why different trees show different colors. Ages 7+ Res Fee $11 - Fee $14 Location: Austin Gardens Taylor Park Wetland Tour Sunday, Nov 13, 10:00-11:30P is nature walk explores the history of Taylor Park and why our local wetland is so interesting! We'll learn the tale of its prehistoric origin, why it's important today, and what we can do to protect wetlands all across the country! We're up with the sun today and taking a stroll in the crisp morning air. Come get your blood pumping as we walk the trails at the Trailside Museum of Natural History. Trail is two miles and primitive. Ticket price includes transportation to and from the forest preserve. Ages 7+ Res Fee $13 - Fee $15 Location: Fox Center Bird Nest Walk Sunday, Dec 4, 10:00-11:30A e leaves are fallen, there's snow on the ground… what's there to see on a hike? More than you'd think! Now that the leaves are off the trees, we can spot nests and see what the birds have been up to earlier this year. Ages 7+ Res Fee $11 - Fee $14 Location: Lindberg Park Snow Tracks Nature Hike Sunday, Dec 18, 10:00-11:30A Who else is taking a walk today? We'll keep an eye out for animal footprints and use our trusty nature guides to ID them as we hike through Miller Meadow. Trail is 1.69 miles and paved. Ticket price includes transportation to and from the forest preserve. Ages 7+ Res Fee $13 - Fee $15 Location: Fox Center Cabin Fever Hike Sunday, Jan 15, 10:00-11:30A Raise your hand if you're sick of being cooped up inside – we know we are! Come take a hike with us at Bemis Woods to get that energy out and get our bodies moving! Trail is 1.6 miles and unpaved. Ticket price includes transportation to and from the forest preserve. Ages 7+ Res Fee $13 - Fee $15 Location: Fox Center Birds of Winter Nature Walk Sunday, Jan 22, 10:00-11:30A Many of our feathered friends have migrated for the winter, but not all of them! We'll explore the Columbus Park Lagoon and see which birds spend their winters right here in Northern Illinois. Ticket price includes transportation to and from the park. Ages 7+ Res Fee $13 - Fee $15 Location: Fox Center Spark in the Dark: Lantern-guided Valentine's Walk Saturday, Feb 11, 5:30-8:30P (1 hour timeslots every 15 minutes) is Valentine's Day, take your significant other on a romantic walk around Lindberg Park, guided by a lantern along a candlelit trail! Roast your own marshmallows for s'mores, sip hot chocolate, and take pictures at our gazebo photo booth. Features timed entry for a more private experience without crowds – price is for two adults. Ages 18+ Res Fee $22 - Fee $39 Location: Lindberg Park Sweetheart Hike Sunday, Feb 12, 10:00-11:30A Take your little loved one on a nature walk for Valentine's Day! Enjoy a guided walk through Maple Park, featuring stories about some of nature's favorite couples and lovely families. Hot chocolate provided to sip while you stroll. Price is for one adult-child pair. While we may not be sailors, we still will enjoy the colors of the sky that come with the setting sun. Enjoy a walk around Mills Park as we take in the sights and sounds of the oncoming twilight.
