We're taking a look at animal tracks and discovering who made what out in the forest. We'll cover shape, size, gait, and seasonality of some of our favorite local animals and put your tracking skills to the test. Do you want to do it for a living but don't know where to start? Join us for a question-and-answer session with environmental scientists to get advice on choosing colleges, getting a head start, and more. Refreshments provided. Ages 11-17 Res Fee $10 - Fee $13 Location: Field Center Goat Chill at GlennArt Farm Saturday, May 6, 12:00-2:00P We're taking a mini trip over to GlennArt Farm in Chicago to hang out with a different kind of "kid" – We're visiting goats! Join us as we chill in the pasture with some baby goats and feed the mamas some delicious treats. We'll take plenty of pictures, as these little guys are great to cuddle! We're breaking out the fire pit so we can learn the safe way to start up a campfire. We'll go through the differences between tinder, kindling, and fuel, how to build a fire for cooking, and what we need on hand to put it out. Ages 11-17 Res Fee $13 - Fee $18 Location: Field Center Alaska Oil Clean-Up Sunday, June 11, 12:00-1:00P e year is 1989, and the Exxon Valdez just leaked 11 million gallons of oil into Alaskan waters. We have a crisis on our hands, and we need to get this cleaned up! Take part in a model clean-up of this oil spill and uncover how ecological disasters like this are solved. Ages 11-17 Res Fee $13 - Fee $18 Location: Field Center Nature Photography Scavenger Hunt Sunday, Jun 25, 12:00-1:30P Ready, aim, shoot (your camera, that is)! We're exploring the park on a scavenger hunt, using our phones and cameras as our guide. Compete individually or as a team to find out who can earn the most points in this digital nature challenge and win the best prize. Come try it out with us! is Try Archery event is led by our certified instructor and goes over the basics of target shooting, including safety, proper form, and aiming. We're solving a medical mystery today by analyzing their stories and discovering what really went down. Can you crack the case? We'll be dropping them from great heights to see which feat of engineering prowess keeps them the safest. Let's get cracking!
