Enjoy making fun quilt blocks or improv style quilted bits, without the long-term commitment of turning them into a finished quilt. Apply quilt blocks to tote bags, t-shirts, sweatshirts, or sew an envelope style pillow cover for a throw pillow or two. Ages 10+ Res Fee $116 - Fee $136 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Building Garments with Simple or No Pattern Mondays, 4:00-6:00P Sep 11-Oct 16 • Oct 30-Dec 4 • Jan 8-Feb 12 Learn to use minimalist patterns and "almost not a pattern," sew a simple but stylish mini jacket/cover up out of three bandanas; make skirt out of multiple bandanas; make the "fold over" style simple box shirt, with either long or short sleeves. Gain confidence and skills in machine sewing, pressing, hemming, taking your measurements and building clothing. Depending on which garments you choose to make, you'll be able to complete at least 1-2 projects in the class. Learn the arashi, itajime, kanoko, and ne-maki styles of folding/tying. In addition, learn two all-over patterns for two color dye processes. Learn to dye with Procion fiber reactive dyes. We'll use simple tools and you'll be able to repeat this at home on your own. Make gorgeous fabrics each week that you can use to sew into garments or quilts, or dye all bandanas and t-shirts, your choice! All tools, clay, and glazes are available to use as well as a ceramics instructor for suggestions, feedback, and guidance should you want it. Pieces are fired once a kiln is full so feel free to work on a couple of pieces at a time. Ages 12+ Res Fee $162 - Fee $182 Multi-Level Jewelry Making Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00P Sep 12-Oct 17 • Oct 31-Dec 5 • Jan 9-Feb 13 is multi-level, project-based class teaches simple but creative designs utilizing beads, wire, and jewelry findings. Each week your instructor will introduce a new project. All supplies and tools are included, you can bring your own, too. Ages 14-Adult Res Fee $76 - Fee $96 Location: Dole Center - Art Room 2 Improv Quilting 103 Wildly Inappropriate Fabrics Tuesdays, 7:00-9:00P Sep 12-Oct 31 • Nov 14-Jan 2 • Jan 16-Mar 5 Based on the book by Sherri Lynn Wood, "e Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters," makes quilts using an improve "theme" or "score" not following a specific pattern. Improv quilting doesn't use rulers or start with a pre-planned out design – making the process more creative and fun! In this class, we'll use fabrics we love that are considered "wildly inappropriate" for quilting. Gold lame? Sure! Polyester double knit? Why not? Bring on wools, upholstery fabrics, bark cloth, seersucker, and mix them as it makes your heart sing!
