Learn to hem pants, sew on a button, and basic hand and machine sewing skills. Learn to mend holes, rips, tears, splits, and how to add or modify pockets. Also, learn to patch wool sweaters with needle felting, and to do straight boro stitching to decorate your mends. We settings, wire, and a variety of stones you can use as well but you are welcome to bring in your own. e class can be a little messy, so be sure to dress casually and bring an apron if you have one. Learn the basics of quilting, from making blocks, to sewing the rows, and top stitching the quilt sandwich and then binding. Upcycled fabrics are welcome. All styles of quilting are welcome, whether improv modern, traditional or no rules. All sewing will be done on the machine, with the possible exception of half of the binding. e teacher is inspired by the work of Zak Foster and Coulter Fussell. Join artist and instructor for six sessions of embroidery lessons, tips, and suggestions. Bring in your ideas and creativity, and she will guide you in the best direction. Daruma is an egg-shaped doll and he wobbles, but he won't fall down, which makes sense, since he's a symbol of perseverance and good luck! Kokeshi are a rural folk tradition of making dolls from wood turned scraps. We'll turn wood turned scraps and beads into little character dolls using paint and bits of ribbon and paper. Ages 7+ Res Fee $116 - Fee $136 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Kwandi Quilting Fridays, 11:00A-1:00P or 7:00-9:00P Sep 15-Oct 20 • Nov 3-Dec 8 • Jan 12-Feb 16 In this hand-sewing method, you'll layer your rectangles of fabric as you go! It's one and done! You'll heavily hand stitch the quilt, doing both quilting step and the assembly step at the same time. Learn about the culture and meaning of this Indian quilt as you sew. Ages 10+ Res Fee $116 - Fee $136 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3/Studio 2 Improv Quilting 102: Curves Saturdays, 1:00-3:00P Sep 16-Nov 4 • Nov 18-Jan 6 • Jan 20-Mar 9 Based on the book by Sherri Lynn Wood, "e Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters," making a quilt that uses some gentle curves. Improv quilting doesn't use rulers or start with a pre-planned out design. is can make the process more free, creative and fun! Upcycled fabrics are welcome. e teacher is inspired by the work of Sherri Lyn Wood, Zak Foster and Coulter Fussell.
