26 Girls Only Camp (Grades 1-5 in Fall) Supervisor: Kate Sniegowski Girls Only Camp features a special theme and activi- ties that the girls can bond over, such as cooking, outdoor activities, art projects, and more! Min 8/Max 24 Chess Scholars Camp (Grades K - 6 in Fall) Supervisor: Kate Sniegowski This camp is designed for both beginners and experienced young players. All participants will learn cool new strategies at the appropriate level from a renowned Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess Belt® under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. There will also be a chess competition with prizes! Each camper will take home a chess set and an award. Please bring your own allergy-friendly snacks. Min 5/Max 20 Cooking Camp (Grades 1 - 5 in Fall) Supervisor: Kate Sniegowski Future Iron Chefs will learn not only the basics of recipe reading but will create and taste personal concoctions each day. Chefs will bake, mix, design, and explore the world of culinary arts. Min 8/Max 20 Hike & Bike Camp (Grades 3-6 in Fall) Supervisor: Kate Sniegowski Hit the pavement this summer and explore Oak Park and the surrounding areas using your own pedal power. Bicycles will be provided by the park district to all participants. Bike safety and road safety will also be taught in this program Min 8/Max 20 Animal Lover's Camp (Grades K - 4 in Fall) Supervisor: Kate Sniegowski Scales, feathers and fur! This is the camp for any young zoologist ready to further explore the Animal Kingdom. Don't be surprised if we are joined by wild creatures! Hike our desert and find out why cacti have spines and which plants have hair! Create your own cactus garden and tropical rain garden and learn what they need to stay healthy. Visit Illinois woods and prairies and collect some of the worms and bugs that live there. Experience nature up-close and learn what you can do to protect it. Become an Eco-Ranger!Location: Oak Park Conservatory Min 8/Max 12 Eco-Art (Grades 3-5) Supervisor: Scott Stewart, PhD Learn basic drawing, painting and simple sculpture skills influenced by the natural world around us. Sculptural forms will include natural materials as well as recycled objects. Students will keep a sketchbook journal and find out how their choices impact the earth, environment, animals and ocean life. Min 8/Max 15 SPECIALTY CAMPS Just for ages 14-16, our Counselor-In-Training Program is for teens who are ready to take on a leadership role and help care for children in a summer camp setting!
