8 The Mission of the Parks Foundation of Oak Park is to collaborate with residents, community groups and partner organizations to support exceptional and extraordinary projects that enhance our parks and community life. w w w .p a rk sfo u n d a tio n o p .o rg Our Goals To bridge the gap between public resources and the need to maintain a vibrant park system. This will help the Park District improve the health of the community and become stronger stewards of our parks, historic properties and open land. To promote fundraising through private and corporate contributions, grants and in-kind donations to enhance the Park District's delivery of distinctive recreation programs, excellent services and quality facilities. To be a facilitator with the many community groups and partner organizations whose goals, projects and activities promote healthy village life through the betterment of recreation programs, parks and facilities. Parks Foundation of Oak Park The Parks Foundation of Oak Park is a nonprofit corporation which is a tax exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) 218 Madison Oak Park, IL 60302 of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by applicable law. Exploration Station - FREE! At the Oak Park Conservatory Saturdays, 10am-Noon thru May 31 Sundays, 1:30-3:30pm thru May 31 Come try hands-on activities at the Exploration Station! There will be a new program each month highlighting special aspects of the Conservatory for both adults and children. Also open on Monday school holidays! Presented by the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory. Toddler Exploration Time - FREE At the Oak Park Conservatory Third Fridays from 10:30-11:15am This special interactive time, offered January through May, for you and your toddler will open up the natural world as you explore together the wonders of nature at the Oak Park Conservatory. You and your toddler will interact during guided activities, facilitated by a docent, and highlighting a different topic each month. Dates & Topics include: March 21: Buzz Bees Buzz April 18: What Shape is Your Leaf May 16: Magic of Seeds Limited to 15 participants, first come, first served - no advance registration Presented by the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory. Spring Perennial & Seedling Exchange - FREE! At the Oak Park Conservatory Saturday, May 10 - Times Vary Join other gardeners and share your favorite perennials at the Friends' of the Oak Park Conservatory sponsored annual plan exchange. Drop off material from 9:30 to 11:30am at the Conservatory. Come back to pick up plants from noon to 12:30pm. Presented by the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory. KidsFest - Free! At the Oak Park Conservatory Sunday, March 2 from 10am – 2pm Join us in celebrating the "Happy BirdDay" of George, our double yellow-head Amazon parrot, who lives in the Conservatory's tropical room. This annual family event is free and includes hands-on educational activities for children and a chance for them to explore a tropical rain forest and other eco-climates. Get a jump on springtime by enjoying some of the early spring flowers on display at the Conservatory. Presented by the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory. 25th Annual Plant Sale At the Oak Park Conservatory Saturday May 3 from 8am – 4pm & Sunday, May 4 from Noon to 3pm NEW SUNDAY HOURS!* The sale features a large selection of vegetables, herbs and flowers, including many unique varieties, almost all of which are grown in our Conservatory greenhouses. This spring event is an Oak Park institution and should be experienced by everyone. FOPCON Members get a special sale preview on Friday, May 2 from 2-6pm!
