32 About/Registration: Fall swim lessons are offered on Sundays using the East Pool at Oak Park River Forest High School. Lessons aim to provide increased swimming ability, water awareness, and social growth through a progression of skill development and instructor interaction. Swimming is taught in a progression of skill work from one level to the next. It is important to master a level prior to moving on. In order for participants to be safe and learn properly it is essential to enroll in the level matching the recommendation from your last class. For questions regarding registration and level placement please contact Jackie Sturtz at Jackie.sturtz@pdop.org Parent Tot Aquatics Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz This class is for children ages 1-3.5 who have little or no experience at the pool and are not ready to be on their own in the water. Your child will learn to be comfortable in the water through games and songs. Basic swimming skills will be introduced throughout the class. One adult companion is required for each registered child (Adult companion does not need to know how to swim). Min 4/Max 10 Class does not meet: 11/30 Preschool 1 Aquatics Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz This class is for participants' ages 3 ½ - 5 years old that have no fear or anxiety towards the water. Participants should also be comfortable away from their parents. Preschool 1 works on basic water and swim skills such as floating, kicking, gliding, and arm motions. All skill work in Preschool 1 is supported by an instructor or a floatation device (one on one work may be used). The level continues developing the skills introduced in level 1 by developing unsupported floating and gliding. An emphasis is placed on using fundamental leg and arm skills in the freestyle and backstroke. Streamline position, deep water bobs, and basic rotary breathing are also developed. Min 4/Max 4 Class does not meet: 11/30 Preschool 3/4 Aquatics Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz Prerequisite: Must receive passing permission from Preschool 2 prior to entering this level. This class continues to improve on the skills of each stoke while building endurance by extending the distances traveled using each skill. Skill work is combined to produce the full freestyle and backstroke by the end of this class. Underwater swimming, streamline gliding and breaststroke arm action are also developed. Min 4/Max 5 Class does not meet: 11/30 SWIM ACADEMY Fall Lap Swim at OPRF (ADULTS ONLY) Looking for a place to swim laps after Rehm and RCRC close for the season? Look no further! Lap swim will be offered Sunday mornings using the Oak Park River Forest High School Pool. Participants will register for a full 9 week session of lap swims. This is an opportunity for open lap swimming; no instruction is offered. Lap swim requires pre-registration as admission is not accepted at the door. The pool will be divided into slow, medium and fast lanes.
