Supervisor: Michael Lushniak Broomball is a recreational ice game played around the world. It is played on a hockey rink. In a game of broomball there are two teams, each consisting of six players: a goaltender and five others. The object of the game is to score more goals than the opponent. Goals are scored by hitting the ball into the opponent's net using the broom. Tactics and plays are similar to those used in sports such as ice hockey or floor hockey. Players hit a small ball around the ice with a stick called a "broom." The broom may have a wooden or aluminum shaft and has a rubber-molded triangular head similar in shape to that of a regular broom. League format: Registration is taken by teams. Teams should consist of 8 to 15 players. All players must have gym shoes and helmets. Brooms and balls will be provided by the rink. This is a CO-ED league so teams must be made up of at least 4 men and 4 women and at least two men or two women must be on the ice at a time. The league will feature a 7 week regular season and 1 week of playoffs. Games will be played on half ice and consist of two 25 minute halves. Don't have a team? No problem! Sign-up as an individual or a group and you will be placed on a team.
