Players will learn the basics of organized team play such as teamwork, position and basic rules of the game. The PBHL will divide players onto teams. Players will have one practice and one game a week. This level is geared towards creating a cornerstone for players to truly begin to appreciate the game of hockey. The PBHL has two ice slots a week. Wednesdays, 3:30 PM-4:30 PM for practice and Sunday, 11:30 AM-12:30 PM for games. Min 20/Max 40 Class does not meet: 11/27-29, 12/23-1/3 Polar Bear Hockey League (Grades 3-5) Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz Participants should have progressed through all levels of class or have prior experience in a league before entering this level. Players will further develop their game play in this league by progressing in organized team play. The PBHL will divide players onto teams. Players will have one practice and one game a week. This level is geared towards learning aspects of team play including freezing the puck and positioning for face-offs. The PBHL has two ice slots a week. Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 PM for practice and Sunday, 12:30 PM-1:30 PM for games. Min 20/Max 40 Class does not meet: 11/27-29, 12/23-1/3 Polar Bear Hockey League (Grades 6-10) Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz In this level of the PBHL, players are introduced to the formal game of hockey. This level is geared towards developing players in all aspects of game play, team work and sportsmanship. The PBHL will divide players onto teams to ensure fairness in the number of participants per team and skill level. The program consists of an average of two practices and game a week from the beginning of September to the beginning of March. Players interested in this program should have previous hockey game experience. Polar Bear Hockey League, or equivalent, experience recommended. Full registration packets available online at pdop.org/ programs/hockey or at RCRC. Min 10/Max 15 Class does not meet: 01/01 Hockey Conditioning Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz Hockey conditioning will keep hockey participants active off the ice while developing the strength and agility to improve on the ice. Using plyometric, cardio and stretching exercises younger players will develop speed and agility while older players use resistance training for muscle development. Fitness is key, and every little bit counts when it comes to improvement in your game! Appropriate attire includes t-shirts, shorts and gym shoes. Min 6/Max 18 Class does not meet: 11/27-29, 12/23-1/3 Dust the Rust Clinics for Youth Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz Dust the rust off your skates and get back on the ice! We'll get you back into skating after summer break to knock your eval out of the ice arena!
