Instructional Youth Basketball League
(Grades 1-2)
Supervisor: Mike Mockler
Join our Instructional Youth Basketball League for
1st and 2nd graders! Practice/scrimmages will be
held on Saturdays for an hour. The first two weeks
will be practice only and the next four weeks will be
split between 30 minutes of practice & 30 minutes
for scrimmaging. No experience is necessary & a
mini size basketball will be used for all practices/
games. Volunteers are needed to coach the teams
along with refereeing the scrimmages. Interested

Times for practices/scrimmages will be anywhere
between 9am-2pm and will last for one hour.
Player requests will not be taken and the league is
open to boys & girls. There will be a mandatory
coaches meeting on Monday, January 26 at 6pm
at Stevenson Center. At least one coach per team
should attend this meeting. We will be discussing
the season, handing out rosters & going over the
schedules.

Youth Basketball League (Grades 3-8)

Our popular Youth Basketball Leagues return! 8-game regular season (plus end-of-season tournament), and all
players will receive a unique jersey included in the cost of registration. All teams will also participate in a scheduled
Picture Day!
Player & Coaches Note: The season kicks off with a mandatory player evaluation day on Saturday, December
6. Volunteer coaches will utilize this assessment as the basis for drafting their teams. Players will be evaluated
on their skills and ability level, including shooting, dribbling, and passing. There will be a limit of 10 players on
each team to mazimize playing time. Special requests for team placement cannot be granted. Mandatory pre-
season coaches meetings will be held the week of December 9 to draft teams, discuss rules/policies, review team
schedules, and distribute equipment. Volunteer coaches will select their practice location, time & day of the week
based on their availability.

Player evaluations will be held at St. Giles school gymnasium on Sa, Dec 6, times TBD.

Season Practice Info
• Practices begin the week of Jan 6 and will be held once a week on either Tu or Th
• Coaches will contact players by Dec 17 with details of practice time and locations (all in Oak Park)
• Practice times, dates and location will be consistent for entire season
• Aimed at skill instruction and preparation for league play
Season Games Info
• Grades 3-4 and 5-6 will play Sundays, Tuesdays, and/or Thursdays dependent on number of teams,
Jan 11-Mar 1 at OPRF High School
• Grades 7-8 will play Thursday or Sunday nights, Jan 11-Mar 5 at District 97 or District 200 gyms
• All divisions will compete in our annual end-of-season tournament held Su, March 8 & 15 at OPRF High School
