48 Jan 17: Superhero LEGO ® Save the world with LEGO® Super Heroes! Build the hideouts and vehicles of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but Super Hero Engineers! Young heros will design, build, and save a city where ingenuity and imagination can solve any conflict. Jan 17: Superhero Master LEGO® LEGO® Super Heroes need your help to defeat the destructive forces of evil arch-villains as they threaten LEGOpolis! Explore the tools and techniques of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but super engineers. An engineering curriculum challenges heroes to design, build, and save a city where ingenuity & imagination can solve any conflict. Feb 21: Construction Vehicles & Machines Dig into engineering with big trucks, construction vehicles, and super machines. Explore the engineering terms, concepts, and vocabulary behind large-scale building machines. Build and learn about steamrollers, bulldozers, wrecking balls, tower cranes, and more while playing with your favorite building system: LEGO! Feb 21: Robotics Using LEGO ® Build and program robots using the LEGO Mindstorms system! Learn about mechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Work in small groups, program and build your robot, and rise to the challenge. Control the robot to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry objects, and play sounds. Projects are structured so that students work in an open-ended, investigative environment. Mar 14: Pre-Engineering: Mine, Craft, & Build Bring Minecraft to life using tens of thousands of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as a motorized Creeper, a portal to the Nether, and a moving Minecart! Whether you are new to Minecraft and LEGO or a seasoned veteran, you'll be hooked on the endless creative possibilities. Mar 14: Engineering FUNdamentals: Mine, Craft, & Build Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based camp, combines the basic format of our core engineering- themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Chess Scholars Supervisor: Amanda Heiman No previous knowledge of chess is necessary: players of all levels are welcome. Each class consists of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess Belt ® under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts. There will be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session! Min 5/Max 20 Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor in these one day, themed, Saturday workshops. Min 11/Max 16 New! Mighty Mathematicians Supervisor: Amanda Heiman This class is an exciting way for your child to practice their math skills while having fun. Math enrichment activities include Magic Money Machine, making a Magic Band, and working out a Magic Square. We also find out how many pieces of candy can fit in the classroom, talk about symmetry, and play math card games, among many other fun math-related activities. We will also play team games with prizes. Your children will come home with a passion for math and a greater understanding of math's real-world applications..
