57 Spring Break: Chess Scholars Camp Supervisor: Amanda Heiman This camp is designed for both beginners and experienced young players. All participants will learn cool new strategies at the appropriate level from a renowned Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess Belt® under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. There will also be a chess competition with prizes! Each camper will take home a chess set and an award. Please bring your own allergy-friendly snacks. Min 5/Max 20 Pre-Engineering with LEGO® Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and motorized cars, and use special pieces to create your own unique design! Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. This is an ideal way to prepare young builders for the challenge of Engineering FUNdamentals. Min 11/Max 16 Engineering FUNdamentals using LEGO® Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Power up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO®! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as arch bridges, skyscrapers, motorized cars, and the Battletrack! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level. Min 11/Max 16 Passport to Adventure: Spring Break Edition (Ages 5-11) Supervisor: Mike Loszach Join the Park District of Oak Park on your day off from school! Spend your day off with us: laughing, exploring, and trying something new! Please send your child with a sack lunch and reusable water bottle. This program is from 8:00am-3:00pm. If care is needed after 3:00pm, please sign up for the extended version, which runs from 8:00am-6:00pm. The morning activities include 6 boys' events, 4 girls' events, games, conditioning and flexibility. The afternoon activities include open gym, board games, crafts, outside games at Stevenson Park (weather permitting), movies and more. All campers must bring a lunch and snack each day. We strive to provide a nut free zone so please don't pack any food with nut products.
