Safe Sitter Class
Supervisor: Mike Loszach
Using hands-on activities, this class will cover topics
such as babysitting as a business, how to success-
fully work with parents, child care essentials, injury
prevention and management, and how to handle
behavior issues. Participants will also walk away with
a certificate of completion and tools to use on the job.
A pizza lunch is included.

Interview/Application Class

Are you looking for a great summer job or maybe
something part-time or on the weekends? Well, you're
not alone. Find out the most common mistakes
applicants make when applying for jobs and how you
can avoid making them. You will also learn how to
prepare an effective application and resume and get
tips on how to stand out in an interview. This class
will be taught by a Recreation Professional with the
Park District of Oak Park who is responsible for hir-
ing seasonal and part-time staff.

NEW! PSAT/ACT Practice

We are partnering with Kaplan to offer PSAT and
ACT practice tests. A great score on the PSAT test
can help you get National Merit Scholarships and
other awards! The ACT is a nationally administered,
standarizied paper and pencil test that helps colleges
evaluate candidates. Kaplan will provide the test
booklets and score your tests. Get a chance to practice
before the official PSAT test is offered on October 17th
and the official ACT test is offered on December 12th.

CIT Leadership Training

This is a Winter Break Counselor in Training program
designed to have two days of leadership training and
two days of hands-on field experience working with the
children in our Passport to Adventure: Winter Break
program.The Counselor-In-Training program is for
teens who are ready to take on a leadership role and
learn to care for children in a camp setting. With staff
guidance and encouragement, CITs will work with
campers, supervise field trips, and assist with games,
crafts, and activities. Besides helping the kids in your
community, being a CIT looks great on a resume and
may even help you land that paid camp counselor
position you've been dreaming of!

Battle Royale Laser Tag at
Longfellow Center!

Battle Royale is bringing the laser tag to Longfellow
Center! Sign up for some in-house Friday Night Laser
Tag. A team leader from Battle Royale will lead the
games at Longfellow Center complete with laser guns,
barriers, tents, props, and knee pads! Participants
may sign up to play from 8:00-8:55 PM using code
429903-01, 9:00-9:55 PM using code 429903-02, or
both! Don't miss this opportunity. Spots are limited
to 12 players per time slot, so advanced registration
is required.

Rolling Video Game Bus

Rolling video games Chicago is coming by Barrie
Center for some Winter break gaming! Their mobile
video game theater will come with a full gaming
library to this teen event. They carry the hottest
multiplayer games for Wii, WiiU, XBOX, and PS3. A
video game coach will be on board to help things run
smoothly. Encourage your friends to sign up and then
show them who the top gamer is!

Archery Teen Night

Some kids are just too cool for school! So why not
come kick it during an evening of archery and your
favorite tunes! Come enjoy your Friday night with
friends trying something new, while dancing, chatting,
and aiming for that bulls-eye! No previous archery
experience needed.Fee is per individual. Please register
each person and/or family member attending this
program.
