REGISTER ONLINE www.pdop.org/camps 13 Class Descriptions Art Mania is mixed media class combines art and science and encourages creativity. Participants will create sculp- tures, use recyclable materials, create edible art, work on printmaking techniques, as well as painting and drawing. Authors & Illustrators Find the story within you and the illustrations to go along with it. Using instructor-led discussions, hands-on activities, and more, students will get creative with cartooning, poems, and short stories. ey will put the words and writing into pictures, paintings, or sculptures. Ceramics Students will learn basic hand-building techniques and how to glaze and fire their finished works. is class will focus on various age-appropriate projects created by the instructor and modified for each individual's skill level. Creative Cooking Food is the center of our lives and healthy food that looks good and tastes great enhances our life. From colorful smoothies, veggie pizzas, gluten-free snacks, and more, young chefs will create weekly treats, a take home cookbook, and explore the importance of a balanced diet. If your child has allergies or dietary needs, please note we do our best to make food sub- stitutions and accommodations to meet the varying needs of our participants, with the assistance and support from the parents. Keeping kids safe is our number one priority. Allergies and dietary needs can be indicated within our registration system or on your campers emergency form. Dance Jams Learn how to dance in sync with a group like you see on the Disney channel or at a Bulls game! Focus will be on creating a solid dance foundation of proper technique. Dancers will also learn and participate in the showcase performance at the end of each SCAW session. If you are looking for a way to intertwine art and academics into summer, SCAW camps are the perfect place for your child. Here, they have an opportunity to explore various art disciplines and media and unleash their boundless creativity. You can choose one or two workshops or stay the whole day. Each session lasts one month and culminates in a final performance and showcase. Materials and instruction will be age-appropriate and skill based. Modifications will be made if required.
