Join us for this new 6-week program for preschool age children 3-5 years old at the Oak Park Conservatory lead by our Naturalist. Children will get their fingers dirty exploring and growing plants in our greenhouse environment, enjoy cras, story time and more! Come let us grow your young child's green thumb! Min 6/Max 16 Chicken Farming Supervisor: Patti Staley Home to Roost founder, Jennifer Murtoff returns to share her extensive experience with raising chickens in Oak Park. What do they require, what are the regulations in Oak Park, what happens when they stop laying eggs – all these topics and much more are covered during this two-hour presentation. is workshop is intended for the beginner who has never raised chickens or who has had minimal experience. Min 10/Max 50 Spring Lawn Care Supervisor: Patti Staley is class will show you how to rejuvenate your lawn aer the winter months with tips on de- thatching, irrigation, over-seeding and fertilizer applications; as well as how to start a spring lawn from seed. Information on morning water and pest disease control throughout the summer will also be covered. Min 10/Max 30 Garden Plant Series Supervisor: Patti Staley Lovely Lilacs is the first in a three part series of "Good for your Home" plant lectures. Take just one, two or all three lectures! e first in the series, Lovely Lilacs, will explore the many different varieties of tried and true Midwestern lilacs, newer reblooming lilacs and common problems with lilacs! Gorgeous Hydrangeas will explore the many different varieties of tried and true Midwestern Hydrangeas, native Hydrangeas and common problems with Hydrangeas. Midwestern Native Grasses will explore the most common and popular native grasses, the difference between the ornamental cultivar selections of natives and good combinations for your home. Each participant will take home a small nursery starter container for your home aer each class. Toddler Exploration Time 3rd Friday of the Month through May 10:30-11:15am (18-30 month olds) 12:15-1:00pm (3-5 year olds) is special interactive time for you and your child will open up the natural world as you explore together the wonders of nature at the Oak Park Conservatory. You and your child will interact during guided activities, highlighting a different topic each month. Space is limited to 18 children and their caregivers for each event. Pre-register using the form in this catalog, at www.pdop.org or in person at the Conservatory or Ridgeland Common. Advanced registration required. NATURE & GARDENING Spring Children's Photos at the Conservatory Supervisor: Patti Staley Have a beautiful, professional children's portrait taken among the spring flowers inside the Oak Park Conservatory. You will receive a sitting session for up to three children and one 8x10 photo. Ala carte packages are available for additional cost. NOTE: You will be contacted with the time of your sitting.
