Meet at Austin Gardens Park to begin the ride with a safety lesson and stretching session. We will take a fun family friendly ride through Oak Park touring a few of our parks along the way. Finish the ride back at Austin Gardens and get a tour of our brand new facility! is is a FREE program put on in partnership with e Active Transportation Alliance and Greenline Wheels. Pre-registration encouraged; however, drop-ins are welcome. Min 6/Max 50 Family Nature Night Supervisor: Leah Pryor Spend some quality time with your family in the great outdoors! Learn about a new nature topic, hike around Austin Gardens as you listen to the sounds of the season, and make a nature inspired cra to take home. July will be dedicated to Bioluminescence! Registration includes 2 family members. Each additional family member $5. Min 6/Max 10 Tropical Luau Supervisor: Leah Pryor What better way to celebrate the end of summer than with a Tropical Hawaiian Luau. Say goodbye to summer and aloha to fall as you party amongst the rainforest plants at the Conservatory. Wear your flip flops and enjoy delicious luau snacks, make a tropical art project, try your hand at making your own recycled lei or build a sand castle at Rehm Park. Registration includes 2 family members. Each additional family member $5. Min 6/Max 10 Tree Tour of Austin Gardens Supervisor: Leah Pryor Join Gordon Waldron from e Learning Gardens for this fun tour of Austin Gardens by Tree! Start at the Environmental Education Center to learn some tips about how to identify trees and then take a tour through the park to learn the species of trees that we have in the park. is is a free program! Min 6/Max 20 Midewin Prairie Trip Supervisor: Leah Pryor Did you know that there is a Bison heard living just one hour outside of Chicago? Join us as we travel to the Midewin National Tall Grass Prairie in Wilmington Illinois. Take a trip through a tall grass prairie in search of the heard while you experience what the environment of Illinois was like hundreds of years ago. Learn about common prairie plants during this fun family adventure and make sure to bring binoculars for the best chance at spotting the heard. Bring a water bottle and a sack lunch for a picnic in the preserve. Trip leaves from Fox Center. Min 8/Max 26 Six Flags Adventure Supervisor: Leah Pryor Spend the day soaring through the air on fast paced rollercoasters at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee Illinois. We'll provide the transportation so you can spend the day exploring the park with your friends and family. A family of 3 can save nearly $50 by signing up with the Park District! Min 15/Max 26 Family Adventure Series Family Kayak Outing Supervisor: Leah Pryor Spend the day out on the waters of Lake Michigan on a kayak! Start the day with an orientation to paddling with instruction on basic paddle strokes safety and rules of the water. en take to the water while expert guides lead you along the shoreline for an incredible view of the city for a 2 hour tour. Aer we finish we will stop at North Avenue Beach Bar and Grill for lunch. Lunch not included in the price of the program. Transportation included. Trip leaves from Fox Center. Fee is per person. Please register each family member. Children over the age of 8: $90 Children under the age of 8: $55 Min 10/Max 26 Rock Climbing Supervisor: Leah Pryor Have you always wanted to try rock climbing? Join us as we travel up to Devils Lake for a guided rock climbing trip. Tenured climbing instructors will instruct you on the fundamentals like belaying, tying in and lowering as you experience a variety of climbing routes. Bring lunch. Water and snacks will be provided. Transportation included. Trip leaves from Fox Center, and is appropriate for families. Min 15/Max 26
