Come learn how to take your orchid growing to the next level with advanced knowledge of growing conditions, watering and fertilizing, and pest control. Also learn about unusual orchids to bring into your collection. Go home with a new orchid for your collection. Material cost included in the class fee. Min 6/Max 12 Fall Flower Arranging Supervisor: Scott Stewart, Ph.D. Learn to create centerpieces and other floral displays with a fall theme. Participants will learn basic thematic design concepts, material selection, and assembly techniques. Each participant will go home with their own unique flower arrangement! Material cost is included in the class fee. Vegetarian rennet will be used. Material cost included in the class fee. Min 5/Max 10 Chevre & Mozzerella You will learn the basics about different kinds of milk, pasteurization, homogenization, and food sanitation as we make and sample Chevre and fresh mozzarella. This is a hands-on workshop. Participants will leave with samples, recipes, and ingredients to make some more cheese at home. Cheese Making 102 -- Brie With some easy to find equipment and a little know how, you will be impressing your friends and enjoying homemade delicious aged cheese in no time. You will learn the basics about different kinds of milk, pasteurization, homogenization, and food sanitation as we make Brie for you to take home and age in your refrigerator. Participants will leave with a homemade aging box, their cheese, a recipe, and ingredients to make some more at home Nature and History Travelogues Supervisor: Scott Stewart, Ph.D. Sit back, relax, and take a pictorial trip through nature and history with James Rowan as he guides you through the parks and wild lands of Illinois, the Midwest, the United States, the world. Through spectacular photography and first-person stories, James will lead you through an exploration of the people, places, and history that make natural areas first-class travel destinations.
