35 www.pdop.org Skating - Youth Freestyle Ice Times Visit www.pdop.org/ontheice for current schedule Freestyle ice time is for skaters who are look- ing for additional time to practice their skills individually or with a coach. ese sessions are available only to those skaters registered in the Skate Academy program. Basic 8 and below may use the ice when accompanied by a coach. Skaters, coaches and parents are expected to follow all freestyle rules and etiquette (available online). Free Skate 1 Ages 6-18 Supervisor: Kyle Sandine Prerequisite: Participants must receive passing permission from Basic 8 prior to entering this level. Building from the previous level, Free Skate 1 develops advanced forward stroking, basic forward outside and inside consecutive edges, advanced back outside three turns, scratch spin from back crossovers, waltz jump from back crossovers, half flip. Skaters should have passed previous level/ equivalent or receive permission from program coordinator. Free Skate 2 Ages 6-18 Supervisor: Kyle Sandine Prerequisite: Participants must receive passing permission from Free Skate 1 prior to entering this level. Building from the previous level, Free Skate 2 develops back outside and inside consecutive edges, forward outside and inside spirals, forward progressive chasse sequence, waltz threes, beginning back spin, waltz jump, side tow hop, waltz jump sequence, toe loop. Skaters should have passed previous level/equivalent or receive permission from program coordinator. Free Skate 4 Ages 6-18 Supervisor: Kyle Sandine Prerequisite: Participants must receive passing permission from Free Skate 3 prior to entering this level. Building from the previous level, Free Skate 4 develops a sprial sequence, forward power three turns, backward progressive chasse sequence in a circle, sit spin, loop jump, waltz jump-loop jump combination. Skaters should have passed previous level/equivalent or receive permission from program coordinator. Free Skate 5 Ages 6-18 Supervisor: Kyle Sandine Prerequisite: Participants must receive passing permission from Free Skate 4 prior to entering this level. Building from the previous level, Free Skate 5 develops backward outside three turns, mohawk into backward crossovers, spiral sequence, forward outside slide chasse swing roll, camel spin, forward upright spin to back scratch spin, loop/loop combination, flip jump, waltz jump-falling leaf-toe loop jump sequence. Skaters should have passed previous level/equivalent or receive permission from program coordinator. Free Skate 6 Ages 6-18 Supervisor: Kyle Sandine Prerequisite: Participants must receive passing permission from Free Skate 5 prior to entering this level. Building from the previous level, Free Skate 6 develops alternating back crossovers to back outside edges, five step mohawk sequence, camel-sit spin combination, split jump, stag jump, waltz jump-half loop-salchow, lutz jump, axel walk through, prep and jump. Axel does not need to be landed to pass. Skaters should have passed previous level/ equivalent or receive permission from program coordinator. New! The Park District of Oak Park is offering its first IN HOUSE SKATING EXHIBITION in the new Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex on July 30th! is exhibition is a perfect experience for skaters looking to demonstrate their skills in a comfortable, competitive environment. is skating competition is open to any Ridgeland Common Skate Academy skater and doesn't involve a program or private instruction! All you have to do is skate three elements from the approved list. Registrations will be taken in person at Ridgeland Common.
