Have you ever wanted to know more about them? Join us for this introductory class to learn the basics of birding. You'll learn basic silhouettes, field marks and calls. Don't forget your binoculars because we will finish class with a short walk to practice your new skills through Austin Gardens! is class is appropriate for adults over the age of 18. Many of our leovers end up in the landfill because we're tired of turkey. Join us for this unique cooking class that will teach you how to make creative new dishes from your anksgiving leovers. Min 6/Max 15 Green Gifting Workshop Supervisor: Leah Pryor Do you always struggle to decide what to give as gis around the Holidays? Instead of spending hours at the store, spend a night making your own gis! Sip on some cider or cocoa, as you make truly unique one of a kind gis that are friendly to the environment that will surely be loved by all. Each participant will make 4 gis to take home. Registration includes one drink. Min 6/Max 12 Ice Cores Supervisor: Leah Pryor Ice core records provide the most direct and detailed way to investigate past climate and atmospheric conditions. Analysis of the physical and chemical properties of an ice core can reveal past variations in climate ranging from seasons to hundreds of thousands of years. Join us for a lecture that explains ice cores and the ways that climate scientists use them. Min 6/Max 30 DIY New Year's Cocktails Supervisor: Leah Pryor Looking for a way to take your New Year's Eve party to the next level? We have the workshop for you! Join us as a representative from Quincy Street Distillery in Riverside Illinois teaches you how to make your own botanic-inspired cocktails. Min 6/Max 15 AM Bird Walks Supervisor: Leah Pryor Grab your binoculars and practice your birding skills at these leisurely walks from Austin Gardens to Cheney Mansion. All levels welcome to join in as we try and identify the neighborhood birds. Finish the morning with coffee in the new Austin Gardens Environmental Education Center! Min 6/Max 16 FAMILY & NATURE...
